Hey there, I’m Chana.
I’m so glad you’re here. (The fact that you made it to my site is kind of a miracle.) Welcome to foodie all day! I am the cook, writer, and photographer behind this blog. I’m a wife and mom of 3 wonderful kiddos. One girl, two boys. Join me on this new foodie adventure as we embrace the simple side of food. You know, the ones that look and taste incredible but require no skill.
Storytime
Foodie all day was born during lockdown. It was a wild 2020, hard and enjoyable at the same time if that makes sense. Lockdown taught me to enjoy those special moments with my family, not always striving for perfection, but most importantly, living simply. Besides getting creative with haircuts and date nights, I wanted to cook meals and snacks that were unfussy. I wasn’t running off to the store anymore for that one weird ingredient, that never seemed to make a difference in the dish. I started to cook with what I had in my pantry and what was available in my local grocery store for curbside pick up. I learned how well one could eat without fussing around. Trust me. I ate well. I’m thrilled to share these ideas with you because they are honestly incredible, simple, and so tasty. This blog will hopefully teach you how to use simple ingredients the right way. I challenged myself to be creative yet minimal. You don’t need 10 ingredients for a Pad Thai sauce. I promise. We’ll explore our pantry and fridge ingredients and cook up epic dishes. Dinner isn’t about a perfectly set table in a spotless house anymore. To me, it’s about enjoying the dishes with the people we love, in an often very messy dining room with half dining and half zoom school.
What’s cooking.
I’ve always loved food from other countries. I appreciate the warmth that the spices and aromatics bring to the dish. At foodie all day, I’m all over the map when it comes down to recipes. You’ll find Asian, Indian, Israeli and so much more. I always encourage [read: gently force] people to try it. “Just take a tiny bite. It’s so good, you’ll love it”. People should step out of their comfort zones when it comes to food. They’ll be quite surprised.
