Making a simple and tasty Bronzino in the oven will give you a hearty and wholesome dinner. Pair it with a few salads and some potatoes and you are good to go!
A lot of people are intimated when it comes to preparing and cooking whole fish. I used to be too but, you really don’t have to be. It’s basically the same thing as cooking a whole chicken. You season it, throw it on the oven or grill and serve off the bone. boom.
When you purchase the Bronzino, ask for it to be scaled and gutted.
You can either use your grill to cook it or in my case, I used an oven to make this tasty Bronzino and boy did it work!
I like to serve this alongside some citrusy sides. I made a quick herby cucumber salad and radishes. You can also serve it with a fresh tomato salad or olives.
INGREDIENTS FOR BRONZINO
- 1 lb Bronzino, scaled and gutted
- Kosher salt
- Black Pepper
- Lemon 2-3 slices
- Olive oil about 3-4 Tablespoons
PROCESS FOR BRONZINO OVEN METHOD
- Preheat your oven to 450 degrees
- Begin by rinsing the fish and pat drying it.
- Next, make two deep slits on both sides towards the tail to allow for even cooking.
- Season the fish well with kosher salt and black pepper on both sides and in the cavity.
- Place a couple of lemon slices inside the cavity.
- Place on a wire rack or if you don’t have one a sheet pan will work too.
- Drizzle olive oil over the entire fish
- Bake for a total of 25-30 minutes, flipping it about halfway through.
- The skin should be browned and crispy when done.
- When serving, gently pull the fish away from the spine and place it on the serving plate. Be careful of small bones. It should fall off the bone.
Herby Cucumber Salad For the Bronzino
- Two Persian cucumbers
- Flat-leaf parsley about 1 cup
- Dill about 1/2 cup.
- 1/4 cup olive oil.
- Juice from half lemon
- 3 tsp of kosher salt
- 2 tsp black pepper
- Splash of vinegar
Cut up the cucumber into bite-sized pieces. Finely chop the herbs. Place everything into a bowl. Add the olive oil, lemon, salt, and black pepper. Mix until combined.
Radish Salad For The Bronzino
- Slice radishes thinly
- Drizzle with olive oil, salt, and cracked pepper.
- Place Spanish olives all around.
